It was during the reign of King Frederik V that the Flora Danica project was initiated, and over 122 years, the Danish flora was meticulously documented and immortalized in a unique work about the wild nature of the Kingdom of Denmark. The Adventure Begins at Flora Danica: The story of Flora Danica jewelry begins back in 1952, when the beloved variety artist, Orla Eggert, and his wife, Grethe, took the initiative to create jewelry inspired by the unique designs of nature. Flora Danica was the first and only company in the world to successfully gild and immortalize real flowers in jewelry.

A Crown for a Four-leaf Clover: Already in the 1960s, Flora Danica was having difficulty obtaining all the flowers and leaves that were needed for the growing production. It was especially difficult to obtain all the four-leaf clovers that customers requested. Therefore, there was a regular advertisement in the newspaper encouraging people to hand in four-leaf clovers every Sunday - and as a reward there was 1 crown per four-leaf clover.

New Times: To meet the increasing demand, the jewelry began to be produced in solid sterling silver in the 1970s. The jewelry, which is still based on the original casts of flowers and leaves from Danish nature in the 1950s and 60s, continued the legacy of Orla Eggert, who passed away in 1973, and was taken over by his wife, Grethe.

International Success: Demand exploded, and by the early 1980s, Flora Danica jewelry was sold in 53 different countries worldwide. Flora Danica became a historic Danish jewelry success on the international stage.

Queen Margrethe's Design: In 1992, Flora Danica was asked by the Danish court to produce a special commemorative brooch, personally designed by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe. The brooch was given as a personal gift by the Queen to all guests at the royal couple's silver wedding anniversary. Flora Danica has also designed and produced a tiara for Her Royal Highness Princess Marie in 2013.
